BXiciAthX-. R. Grigor reports :— Monthly Sale.— At my Monthly Sale on Fridays 13th inst., I sold 105 crossbred hoggets, in the wool* at 14s 6d. Another lot oi 205 was forward, but were passed. 19 head of fat cattle was disposed of, at from 37s 6d to 40s per lOOlbs. Fat Cattle — 10 head were afterwards disposed of privately at above rates. Store Cattle. — A good demand for store cattle exists. A rather inferior lot oilered at sale were sold at from L2 l7s 6d to L 3 ss. Horses.— -Hdrses are^n good demand. Draughts, superior, from L4o*s L 7 5; medium, L20 t0 L35 •, good hacks or ligfit harness horses, L2U to L3O; inferior, L 5 td LJO. Grain.— Oala^are still in request at last week's rates. Wheatf-Any good samples in the district ate now sold ; any remaining 'could be placed at fair rates. Barley is saleable for horse feed at 4s to 4s 6d -, malting, Dunedin rates— less freight and expenses. . Note.— l intend folding a sale (by permission of the Clutha A. and P. Association) on the Show Ground, in M'Neil's Paddock, on the 27th inst., and will be glad to offer to public competition any prize or other stock that settlers may wish to dispose of. Tokomairiro. Messrs. Capstick, Duthle and Co. report : — At our yards and stores on Thursday, 12th inst., we sold by auction a farm Of 81 acres, on account of James Elder Brown, Esq., situate about two miles irom township of Milton, to David Carson, Esq., of Meadow Bank, for the sum of L 1,225 2s Gd : or at the rate of Lls 2s 6d per acre. Immediately after, we sold — Sheep.— On account of John Adam, Esq.— sl2 crossbred hoggets, at lis 6d ; 143 crossbred hoggets, inferior, at 7s Id each, mixed sexeß '; and 28 merino ewes, at 8s each. On account of Edward Martin, Esq. — ISB crossbred hoggets at lis each, mixed sexea. On account of George Lindsay, Esq.— 37 merino ewes (dry), at 9s 6d each. Cattle. — 20 head of store cows, at L 3 each ; 13 steers and heifers, 18 months, at 355 ; 9 calves, at 20s each, and 1 dairy row, at L 7. Our private sales during the week have only been 195 merino wethers, at 7s 6d each. Good store cattle are anxiously inquired for, both fat. and stores are scarce. Fat sheep are a little easier, butchers here having A few weeks' stock on 'hand. Dunedin. A. Mercer reports :— Fresh butter, in jib and lib prints, Is 4d to Is 6d 'per lb; fresh butter, in lumps, Is 2d per lb. The supply of fresh butter is still coming into the market very freely, and most of the grocers are obliged to salt it down. There is little or no sale Tor Bait butter in kegs at the present prices asked, and prices are still on the decline. Good cheese is Scarce, and nothing but the best quality will sell at lOd to Is per lb ; side and rolled bacon, Is per lb; Colonial hams, is 2d to Is 3d per lb ; beef hams, Od per lb; English hams (not much in demand) Is 4d to Is 6d per lb ; eggs are still very plentiful, but meet with great demand, at Is 4d per doz. The Guardian reports .— -www Breadstuffs.remaih at late quotations. , Flour, in trade lots, Lll 15s to Ll2 per ton. Wheat continues in good demand, and prime samples are fetching 5s 3d to 5s 4d per bushel. Oats are readily taken up at 5s 6d for any good samples Offering. The market is bare, and likely to remain so owing to the small stocks held by farmers. Oatmeal is now selling at L2G per ton for parcels, and the ! millers are not anxious for sellers even at this high figure. Potatoes have been selling up to LlO 10s per ton, but the market is a little easier owing to supplies coming to hand from Melbourne and Hobart Town. Cornsacks are being ottered at 12s 9d per dozen, but the trade are not inclined to give more than 12s 6d per dozen. Messrs. Maclean Brothers report : At the weekly market on Wednesday last about 100 head were yarded, which were all taken by the trade at prices fully to late quotations. We quote really prime beef, 40s to 45s per lOOlbs ; medium land inferior, 80s to 355. Fat Sheep.— About 1666 of all sorts were penned, but, on account of many of the trade having I supplied themselves privately, only about 1000 were tsold, the balance being held over till next week. Our sales consisted of another draft of 500 crossbreds and merinos, on account of the New Zealand t and Australian Land Company, Limited, which were all taken by the trade at 22s 9d each for crossS breds, aud from 16s to 16s 6d each for merinos. . We quote prime cross-bred mutton, 4|d to»6d per • lb ; do merino, 4d. , Fat Lambs.— Over 100 were penned, some of 1 which were, very inferior quality. We also sold 52 _ lair to good at from 9s to 12s each. We have also sold 200 during the week for forward delivery. J Store Cattle are now in good demand, and may be quoted at from Ls los to L 6 10s for good wellj grown bullocks, and from L3 los to L 5 10s for cows. Store Sheep.— Cross-bred and merino wethers, in tt -the wool, may be quoted at from 13s to 14s each for
