Electricity assets still wanted
Negotiations will continue for the Christchurch City Council to buy Lyttelton electricity assets from; , the Banks Peninsula Dis-trict-Council. ' ; . The’ Lyttelton part ‘ of the separate Port Hills Energy Authority went to the Peninsula Council under local government re-
form. The Heathcote part of the authority went to the City Council. A joint standing committee of the two councils will be set up. The Port Hills authority was a joint standing committee of the Lyttelton Borough and Heathcote County councils. It was dissolved
under reform but has continued to function. Some Peninsula councillors favour the retention of a separ- J ate Port Hills authority;- City < councillors favour Southpower absorbing that authority’s supply area.
