GCS result
GCS (the Government Computing Service) reports an after-tax profit of $4.9 million for the six months ended September 30. This is 32 per cent down on the result for the first half of last year. Turnover was down 10%. However, the general manager, Mr Michael Foden, says the corporation will grow more than 20% in the current year, compared* with a forecast industry average of 10.5%.
He blamed the fall in revenue and profit on price cuts, from August, 1988, having their first full effect.
