Fresh charges laid
PA Auckland Former Guthrie Group directors Desmond Lindsay Guthrie and his son, Fraser David Guthrie, yesterday faced fresh charges in the District Court at Auckland. The pair were arrested in May and charged jointly with conspiring to defraud clients of D. L. Guthrie and Sons between August, 1981, and February, 1989.
The charge was replaced yesterday with a more detailed charge of conspiring to defraud, 37 charges of theft of bullion, and 46 charges of obtaining money from clients by false pretences. Guthrie Securities is also charged jointly with the pair, who chose trial by jury and were remanded on bail for a preliminary hearing in May.
