Chinese work
Mr Stan Chan of Wellington has completed a 15m painting as part of the Chinese contribution to the 1990 celebrations. It took him six months, using traditional Chinese rice paper, ink, paint and brushes. Divided into six, it depicts the arrival of Chinese in New Zealand last century and follows their progress through to modern times. A qualified art director, Mr Chan was asked to do the painting by a Peking artist, Mr Gwo Bao Wei, who had the idea when he visited Wellington last year. All the works will be displayed in Wellington next year before being exhibited nationally. — PA.
