Man ‘serious’
An Ashburton man was still seriously ill in the intensive-care unit at Christchurch Hospital last evening after a fight with his flatmate in Ashburton on Friday evening. Bevan John Lawes had emergency neurosurgery on Sunday after being taken by ambulance to Christchurch Hospital from Ashburton that day. Mr Lawes was knocked unconscious in the fight.
