Four killed in car crashes
PA Auckland A man and a youth died in separate car accidents in Auckland on Saturday evening. A car carrying six people struck a power pole near Brown’s Bay about 6.30 p.m., killing the driver. He was Christopher David Glasgow, aged 30, of Te Atatu North. The five passengers suffered minor injuries. A passenger died when a car failed to take a bend near Pukekohe about 10.30 p.m. He was William Hoeta, aged 16. The police said the driver had been charged
with careless use causing death. In Otahuhu a man died when his motor cycle hit a pole in Bairds Road outside Dominion Breweries late on Friday. He was John Mafulu Lavina, aged 20, of Auckland. A young woman died when the car she was a passenger in crashed into the front of the Britomart Tavern in Auckland early on Saturday. She was Julie Menna Webster, aged 19, of Auckland. Ms Webster and another passenger, who was unhurt, had to be cut from the wreckage. Two other passengers were unhurt.
