Body of missing hunter found
The body of an Aucklander missing on a goathunting trip in Coromandel bush was found yesterday morning. He was Michael Anthony Hieatt, ■ aged 28, of Epsom. Mr Hieatt had entered the bush near Thames about eight days ago and was expected out last Tuesday. Constable Chris Moore, of the Thames police, said Mr Hieatt’s body was found about 10 a.m. and was lifted out by helicopter about 30 minutes later. Constable Moore said
the body was found in dense bush on the top of a ridge about 90 minutes walk from the Tapu-Coro-glen highway. The body was about 20 minutes walk from where Mr Hieatt’s pack and contents had been recovered the day before. Constable Moore said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances. A post-mortem examination is expected to be held at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, today. A total of 40 police and civilians were involved in yesterday’s search.
