Lord Hybrow home in Wyong Cup

NZPA-AAP Wyong The combination of jockey Kevin Moses and classy New Zealandowned stayer Lord Hybrow, reunited for the first time in 15 months, provided trainer Neville Mcßurney with his second successive sAust6o,ooo Fosters Wyong Cup (2100 m yesterday. Moses had not been on Lord Hybrow since the duo dominated last year’s Brisbane winter carnival, and in that time the horse had failed to win. Aided by a perfect Moses ride, Lord Hybrow easily beat the favourite, Kapahula, by iy ? lengths, with Peaceful Kingdom a neck away third. Mcßurney, who had three runners in the race, said he always felt Lord Hybrow would prove too strong on his home track. “I’m not planning anything big with him. He’s getting on in years and probably would find it tough if I took him to Melbourne again,” he said. But the authority of the win has prompted Mcßurney to go ahead with plans to start him in the sAust2oo,ooo Newcastle Cup (2300 m on September 13 and the sAust4oo,ooo Metropolitan (2600 m on October 2. Last year’s winner, Strike Regal, continued his recent poor run of form and finished second last. Lord Hybrow’s time of 2:07.7 on a fast track smashed the track record, set by Covert Lass in January, by almost five seconds.
