Squash win to Allred
Michael Allred overcame a higher-ranked Canterbury squash team-mate, Paul Viggers, for a fine win in the Burnside Open yesterday. Allred won in straight games, 9-4, 9-2, 9-6 while another Canterbury representative, Rod Hayes, the tournament’s top seed, had to be content with fourth place. The women’s open, also sponsored by Cardinal Network, was won by Denny Maroulis after a hard-fought final with Leonie Ward. Results:— Men Open:— M. Allred beat P. Viggers, 9-4, 9-2, 9-6.
