Auck. too strong for Waikato colts
PA Palmerston North The extra class and firepower of the Auckland team took it to its fifth win in six years at the colts quadrangular rugby tournament in Palmerston North on Saturday. Auckland came away with a clinically efficient display late in the game to beat Waikato, 38-14, in the final, while Wellington totally dominated the second half to
blaze away from home team Manawatu 34-13 in the playoff for third and fourth. In another match, Canterbury B avenged its mid-week loss to Wellington B by walloping Manawatu B 34-18. Scores: Colts final: Auckland Colts 38, Waikato Colts 14. Wellington Colts 34, Manawatu Colts 13. B representative match: Canterbury B 34, Manawatu B 18.
