Sergio’s on Sunday
By MICHAEL RENTOUL While Mr Sergio’s first official day of Sunday trading yesterday was not as busy as hoped, the store believes this will change as downtown Christchurch opens to Sunday trading.
The store was earlier this month granted a Sunday trading licence, perhaps the first south of Cathedral Square to be successful.
Its managing director, Mr Craig Nicholas, understood Minsons, which closed recently, would reopen opposite his store next month. It would bring from its old site a Sunday trading licence. As the south opened to Sunday trading, its popularity with tourists was likely to increase.
Mr Nicholas said Mr Sergio’s was enjoying its busiest year with Japanese tourists.
