Man charged with cruelty to dog

PA Auckland A Mangere man accused of biting a dog did not plead when he appeared in the District Court at Otahuhu yesterday.

Samuel Te Ariki MacDonald, a 21-year-old baker, has been charged with cruelly ill-treating an animal and possessing a steel bar with the inten-

tion of threatening violence.

The charges follow an incident on Monday, in which MacDonald allegedly punched a Rottweiler puppy around the throat while hanging on to its neck with his teeth. MacDonald was remanded on bail to August 29.
