A Christchurch man, Mr John Connelly, has won the award as National’s canvasser of the year. He has signed up 1000 members for National in the Labour-held marginal seat of Yaldhurst. Mr Connelly is the grandson of a Dunedin member of Parliament and a son of the former Labour member of Parliament for Yaldhurst and Cabinet Minister in the Kirk Government, Mr Mick Connelly. He has launched his candidacy for next year’s General Election to stand for National in'Yaldhurst.
