Richmond Working Men’s Club’s team won the champion of champions darts competition organised by the Canterbury Combined Clubs Darts Association and played at the Hornby Working Men’s Club at the week-end.
Its winning team was P. Ridd, R. Buchanan, R. Cooper, J. Catannach, M. Eagan and B. Guy. Hoon Hay was runner-up. Its team comprised L. Nelson, K. White, R. Wilson, P. Brooks,
A. Johnson, R. Theobald. One hundred and eighty scores were recorded by T. Veevers (Woolston), N. May (Kaiapoi), and K. White (Hoon Hay). The 1 women’s pairs final, played at the Woolston Working Men’s Club, was won by L. Broadbent and A. Luscombe, of Woolston. L. Southon and S. Gallagher, of the Papanui club were runners-up.
The Canterbury Lion Brown men’s pairs final, played at the Riccarton Working Men’s Club was won by B. Guy and R. Buchanan. Runners-up were A. and T. Veevers. The highest break in that competition was a 148 thrown by M- Fagan of Woolston.
The highest finish was a 130, by L. Nelson, of Hoon Hay. One hundred and eighty scores in the pairs competition were recorded by P. Hurst (Woolston), K. Shore (St Albans/Shirley), A. Ayers (Hornby) and K. White (Hoon Hay).
