Memorial Avenue land sold for $1.2 million
One of the last large blocks of residential land on Memorial Avenue, the 2.lha Witbrock property, has sold at auction for $1.2 million. A listed property developer, City Realties, was the successful bidder at the auction on Friday. The company’s national development manager, Mr Chris Wilson, said the property would be developed as 22 “select and desir-
able” sections. Most the well-estab-lished trees on the property would be retained, and the existing driveway incorporated into the roading design of the subdivision. The sub-division would connect to Memorial Avenue by a cul-de-sac, he said.
The property’s former owner, Miss Mabel Witbrock, lived in the home-
stead there until a few weeks ago.
Mr Wilson said the homestead was now in poor condition and would be removed.
City Realties, a Welling-ton-based company, has been involved in several residential developments in Ham and Avonhead.
The company has also developed properties in Wellington, Auckland and Australia.
