Ski masters

Mount Hutt’s head race coach, Dave Ingram, and a former national women’s champion Kathy Guy, were 'the over-all winners of the Mount Hutt Masters ski event last week-end. Winners in each age category were worked out from times recorded over the two race days and the handicap system then used to find the over-all men’s and women’s winner. Competitors from their twenties to a enthusiastic 76-year-old, Neil Hamilton, enjoyed excellent snow conditions. Forty-one racers started on the Saturday and 35 on the Sunday. Among the age-group winners were three former New Zealand Olympic representatives and national champions, Bill Hunt, Chris Womersley and Stuart

Blakely. The fathers of both Womersley and Blakely were also successful. Results: — Men.—Over 75 years: Neil Hamilton. 70 to 74 years: Stan Blakely. 65 to 69 years: Peter Womersley. 60 to 64 years: Bill Hunt. 55 to 59 years: Ekke Coberger. 50 to 54 years: Noel Saxton. 45 to 49 years: Peter Rudkin. 40 to 44 years: Chris Womersley. 35 to 39 years: Dve Ingram. 30 to 34 years: Stuart Blakely. 25 to 29 years: William Rolleston. Women. —Over 60: Topsy Deans. 55 to 59 years: Kate Archibald. 45 to 49 years: Kathy Guy. 40 to 44 years: Chris Blakely. 35 to 39 years: Marilyn Armstrong. Over-all winners: David Ingram (Mount Hutt Sports Foundation St Clair Brown Cup), Kathy Guy (Stan Blakely and Family Trophy).
