Debbie’s Boy, a Goretrained candidate for next month’s Kurow Cup at Oamaru, showed his fitness when successful at the Ashburton trials on Thursday. Pacers to qualify were: Clansy (2g, Haughty Romeo-Genala), True Emory (4m, True AverilEmory Lass), Cote du Jour (Plat du JourJascoe), Thanks a Million (3g, Alberton-Loburn Queen) and Dover Bromac (3g, Lordship-Doris Bromac). The only trotting qualifier was Continu (3f, Plat du Jour-Never Ending). Results, all 2400 m, pacers qualifying, heat one: Clansy, R. Swain 1, Flashing Bye 2, Farmer Brown 3.
