Health submissions

Sir, —I am very concerned that the August 6 deadline for making written submissions regarding the hospital-health cuts issue will put elderly citizens’ groups at a disadvantage because they meet only once a month. They will be hard pressed to read, absorb, and assess relevant information before making a submission. My immediate reaction to the August 6 deadline was how a so-called Labour Government could be so inconsiderate, but I later reflected that such an inconsiderate attitude has been an ongoing part of Labour Government policies in recent years. The Christchurch 60s-up Movement is to meet next on August 7. Meanwhile, I hope that concerned Canterbury citizens will give urgency to writing to the Minister of Health seeking an extension of time for submissions. — Yours, etc., KENNETH EBER MARTIN.
