Wine in supermarkets

Sir, —It is rather ironic that in these days Of significant health cuts, including the threatened closing of Queen Mary Hospital at Hanmer, Parliamentarians have voted to increase alcohol outlets by allowing supermarkets to sell wine. The services of alcohol and drug agencies such as Queen Mary, already overstretched, will be even more in demand in the future when alcohol consumption rises. — Yours, etc., VERLE GARLICK.
