$NZ up on declining SUS

PA Wellington The New Zealand dollar continued to gain yesterday on the back of a sliding United States dollar. The New Zealand dollar ended at U558.65/75c, up on its 58.45/55C opening. The U.S. dollar ended in New York at 1.8665/75 Deutsche marks and 140.00/05 yen, against 1.8820/30dm and 141.45/55 yen. Against other currencies, the New Zealand dollar was worth Au5t77.54 1.0973dm, 35.45 pence, 81.72 yen, 0.9439 Swiss francs. The Reserve Bank trade-weighted index was at 60.3, compared with 60.6.
