Becker withdraws
NZPA-AP Stratton Mountain, Vermont The Wimbledon champion, Boris Becker, has dropped out of the 5U5602,500 ($NZ1,052,000) Volvo International tennis tournament because of an unspecified injury, tournament officials said yesterday. The West German’s decision leaves the defending champion, Andre Agassi and the French Open winner, Michael Chang, as the top drawcards for next week’s tournament. Becker, a three-time Wimbledon winner, had also pulled out of last Sunday’s final match between the United States and West Germany in the Davis Cup semi-final.
