General Election

Sir,—R. L. Pluck (July 19) writes: “...the discerning voter, therefore, will be faced with just two choices, National or

Labour.” I would suggest that between Labour and National there is no choice, as both present the same policy of taking the Government out of governing, practically giving away New Zealand’s assets, deregulating anything that might control multi-nationals from

ravaging the economy of the country, at the expense of the electorate. New Labour provides an alternative, with the principles of honesty and caring for the people and environment that used to be the hallmark of "Old Labour” before it was hijacked by the Far Right. To attempt to dismiss the rapid growth of New Labour as irrelevant, which may be the instructions from the head office of the “Old Labour,” is to ignore the thousands of active members who have left both former main parties to join New Labour in making New Zealand a country fit to live in again. — Yours, etc., ,L. HOLLAND. July 20, 1989.
