Parliament
PA Wellington Parliament resumed yesterday at 2 p.m. No petitions were presented. The report of the Audit Office for the year ended March 31, 1989, was tabled. Six questions of the day were answered. There were 12 questions. Members then had the usual two-hour Wednesday general debate. Mr Jack Elder (Lab., West Auckland) presented the Internal Affairs and Local Government Select Committee’s report on the Marlborough County Council (Riverlore Reserve) Empowering Bill. The House then went into committee to consider the Anglican Church Trusts Amendment Bill and Wellington Harbour Board (Seaview Marina) Reclamation Bill.
Both bills were given third
readings. Mr Jim Sutton (Lab., Waitaki) moved the introduction of the Oamaru Licensing Trust (Loans) Bill which was referred to the Internal Affairs and Local Government Select Committee. , Mrs Katherine O’Regan (Lab., Waipa) then moved introduction of the Waipa County Council (Kihikihi Endowment Land) Bill. Debate was interrupted when the House adjourned for dinner at 5.30 p.m. When the House resumed sitting, the bill passed its Introduction and was referred to the Internal Affairs and Local Government Select Committee. Parliament then resumed debate on the introduction of the Electoral Expenses Bill, which was interrupted on May 17. The debate was interrupted when the House rose at 10.30 p.m.
