Novel selling concept
An Auckland man, Peter Leathwick, is offering potential owners a deal he believes they will not be able to resist — a money back guarantee. Mr Leathwick is a principal of the recently formed Kaapstad Group One Marketing with a novel concept in selling racehorses. Should any horse sold not win a race (including a dead heat) within two years of the date of purchase the horse is returned and the price refunded. The six conditions on the arrangement include a call for the horse to race at least once; and for the purchaser to return the horse in good health to a destination designated by the seller (within 100 kilometres of Auckland). Mr Leathwick, who is offering horses from $5OOO to $70,000 feels the guarantee will give con-
fidence to owners who have found the risk factor a bad experience in the past.
“The majority of the horses are in training so the purchaser has a chance to recoup any outlay quickly,” Mr Leathwick said.
