Teachers without jobs

Sir,—Job-seeking student teachers should know that the Association for Waldorf Education is now recruiting teachers from overseas for the new

Waldorf-Steiner Programme. This decision has been forced on us by the fact that the College of Education would not allow even one lecture on Waldorf Education to be given to students in the last three years. Indeed, such is the opposition and prejudice that we have been to the Ombudsman, but to no avail. A.W.E. is now in contact with teachers in the United States and United Kingdom who took Waldorf courses as part of their State qualification and will, in due course, employ such teachers. Meanwhile, we are supportive of the Government in making institutions in New Zealand more flexible and responsive. — Yours, etc., DR DAVID MOLLET, Spokesperson of A.W.E. July 20, 1989.
