Injunction dropped

PA Wellington The New Zealand Rugby League yesterday agreed to drop a court injunction taken against a freelance Rotorua journalist, Don McPherson, for distributing an unofficial Rugby League test booklet. McPherson produced the alternative souvenir booklet for the second test between Australia and New Zealand in Rotorua. The injunction was taken out, according to the NZ.R.L.’s counsel, because it contained material in breach of the tour sponsorship by Lion Red. The front cover of the booklet caused controversy because it prominently featured the Australian team sponsors. The Australian Rugby League released a statement last night stating that allegations that brewer Castlemaine XXXX supported McPherson were inaccurate.
