Aerosol labelling

Wellington reporter The Department of Health is investigating whether it can sell incorrectly labelled aerosol products. Under amendments to the Toxic Substances Regulations, which came into effect on January 1 last year, aerosol products have to be labelled with the name of the propellant used. The Minister of Health, Ms Clark, said yesterday she would ask her officials to look at what it could do about people breaking the law. A drafting omission in the regulations meant that no penalty existed for incorrectly labelled aerosol products. ‘-Further amendment to the regulations might be needed so the department could undertake successful prosecutions, she said.
