BHP steel up
Broken Hill Proprietary Company steel division has continued its strong performance with a 5.5 per cent lift in raw steel production in June to 500,000 tonnes in the first month of BHP’s new financial year. Steel was the company’s top earner in the year to May, contributing sAust4so.7 million (SNZS9O.7M) to the group’s sAustl.O3s billion (SNZI.4B) net profit. The BHP report included for the first time 2.1 M barrels of refined products from BHP’s latest major acquisition, Hawaii-based oil refiner and marketer, Pacific Resources, Inc.
