Rubber hosing which was tied across a Shirley Street on Saturday evening had been stolen earlier in the day from a nearby service station, the police believe. The hose was strung about 1.5 m off the ground across Riselaw Street, near the intersection with Emmett Street. Two teenage girls were arrested on Tuesday evening in relation to a Halswell house burglary. The girls will be dealt with by the police youth aid section. About $5OOO of clothing and cosmetics were taken from the house on June 29. The goods have been recovered.
