House resumes after recess

PA Wellington ' Parliament will resume today after a five-week recess and will immediately start working to clear away legislation before the Budget is introduced on July 27 and dominates debate until ;the end of August. The Leader of the House, Mr Hunt, said yesterday the Area Health and Hospital Boards Amendment Bill would be passed this week. Before the Budget, the Public Finance Bill, the Forest and Rural Fires Amendment Bill and a number of bills to restructure the Labour Department had to be passed. The Casinos Bill, a Fire Service Amendment Bill . and the Conservation Law Reform Amendment Bill . would be introduced. Debate on the Sale of Liquor Bill would continue next week. The House normally ■ takes urgency on Budget night and-after a week’s recess will spend about three weeks in a Budget debate in which every member of Parliament will have the opportunity to speak. ; The biggest piece of . legislation expected in ‘ Parliament this . year is ■ the Education Omnibus Bill which will draw together the Government’s proposed changes to the . education system.
