Italian trip planned
Valrodian ran in new colours at the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting at Trentham on Saturday, those of Pat Samuel who will send the horse to Italy for the Gran Premio Merano in two months. Formerly owned by lan Adams and his brother-in-law, Rodney Hurley, Valrodian had been the hurdles find of the winter. Mr Samuel has been promoting New Zealand jumpers internationally
for twenty years, usually in association with Noble Heritage’s trainer Graeme Rogers in recent times. The Italian event carries prizemoney of more than SNZ2OO,OOO. Valrodian is in Mr Adams’ care until after the Wellington meeting and is expected to run in the Wellington Hurdles on Saturday. His regular rider, Bryce Revell, was injured late in the week in a fall and Richard Burton substituted for him on Saturday.
