Manson spends time in chair

Doctors say they could not be happier with the progress of the Christchurch heart and lung transplant patient, Mr Roger Manson, his wife said from London last evening. Mrs Rae Manson said Harefield Hospital doctors who performed the surgery last Wednesday were “very happy” with his progress. Mr Manson sat for two hours in a chair yesterday — the first time he had been out of bed since the
surgery. While Mr Manson was tired and looked washed out, he was on a soft solids diet and eating more, she said. The next step would be for him to stand unassisted and for improvements to his voice, still a hoarse croak.
Physiotherapists would today put him on an exercise programme, which included leg exercises and pedal cycling, Mrs Manson said.
Her husband was positive and determined, she said.
