Row over settler ‘rampage’

NZPA-Reuter Jerusalem A row has flared over what police called a rampage by Jewish settlers through a West Bank village, and the Defence Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, has promised to stamp out Jewish vigilante raids. Security sources said police arrested 30 settlers on Tuesday in a hunt for those who entered the village of Kifl Harith the day before and shot dead a teen-age girl. Mr Rabin, ending a stormy debate in Parliament on recent settlerPalestinian clashes in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, said the Army would crack down on Jews who took the law into their Own hands.
