'Press’ chess

Thirty-one teams have entered “The Press” schools’ chess teams’ competition which will be held during the second term. The $7OO tournament will be held in four grades, with teams of six for the A and B grades, five for the intermediate grade and four for the girls’ division. Entries will close today. The defending A grade champion, Burnside High School and the most successful school in the 19 years of the competition, Christchurch Boys’ High School, have yet to enter teams.
