Garden rubbish
Sir,—l can see no lessening of the smog in Christchurch as the result of the ban on burning garden rubbish. For superannuitants with gardens and without trailers, the disposal of leaves at the present time is a nightmare. Would it not be possible to allow a day for burning, once a month; east, west, north and south areas taking different days? Alternatively, could the council not collect garden rubbish once a month? Our rates are high enough, even with the reduction, without having to pay private collectors for garden rubbish.— Yours, etc., S. L. DONALDSON. May 25, 1989.
