Gang patches ban
PA Auckland Gang patches have been banned from the Papakura District Court in a move to stop gang fights. The deputy registrar, Ms Clare Carsons, said patches had not been welcome in Court, but were occasionally worn inside. There had been no problems since notices banning the patches appeared, she said. Black Power and Mongrel Mob members have been a worry for staff after several confrontations in court. The court staff have sought help from the Maori community, asking for the presence of leaders or elders to help discourage fighting.
