Players separated

PA Auckland Newly-weds Phil and Lynne Horne are to be separated in the name of matrimonial harmony. It is a case of the couple which does not play together, will stay together. Double sports international Phil Horne will compete in the men’s singles and doubles at the World Badminton Championships in Indonesia but, for the sake of family harmony, will not team up with Lynne in the mixed event. “The coach didn’t think it would be such a great idea,” he said. “You do tend to get into the odd argument when you’re out on the court, and that might cause extra problems when you’re husband and wife as well. I could see his point of view.” The team, which left for Singapore yesterday is: Graeme Robson, Kerrin Harrison, Glenn Stewart, Kevin Ross, Dean Galt, Phil Horne, Lynne Horne, Toni Whittaker, Katrin Blair, Jane Clarke, Rhona Robertson, Julie Still.
