Father v. son

NZPA Wellington The top Scottish drivers, Jimmy and Colin Mcßae, will feature in a father-versus-son challenge during the Rally of New Zealand in July, according to the team manager, Gary Smith. Colin, aged 20, will take part in the event, and so will his 45-year-old father. Both men 'will drive turbo-charged Sierra Cosworths never before seen in New Zealand rallying. The Ford Boreham-pre-pared vehicles left for New Zealand on May 15 and are expected at Smith’s Hamilton

workshop by the end of June. The New Zealand rally will be the first time that father and son have competed against each other in identical cars, and Smith predicted a vigorous battle. This year Colin Mcßae has placed well in the Swedish world championship round in a 4 x 4 Sierra Group A. He finished fifteenth after running in the top 10 for most of the event. He dropped out of the top 10 when he had gearbox problems. Jimmy Mcßae won the hotly contested Circuit of Ireland Rally for the sixth time.
