Squash disappointment

A disappointing total of 44 entries were received for the Canterbury junior squash championships at the Sumner club courts this week-end. Of those, a large chunk will figure in the under-19 boys’ event and the under-17 girls’, both of which have attracted nine entries. The under-19 boys’ grade is headed by Michael Bailey (Timaru) and Lester McKee (Mayfield) with Glen Archer (Pirates, Dunedin) the top seed for the under-17 boys. A 14-year-old, Sarah Cook, is the No. 1 seed for the under-17 girls’ section. The tournament will end on Sunday afternoon.
