Boost for Kiwi transplant patient

NZPA London Christchurch heart and lung transplant patient, Mr Roger Manson, has received a boost with the arrival of his children in England. Yesterday was the first day at local schools for Harley, aged 12, and Chelsea, aged 10, and their mother, Mrs Rae Manson, said they were approaching it with “some apprehension.” Mr Manson and his wife have been in England since late February, living near Harefield Hospital, where Mr Manson is on the waiting list for a heart and lung transplant.

He suffers from a rare medical condition which causes a lack of elasticity in the lungs. His trip to England was made possible by an appeal in the Christchurch area which raised more than SNZ2OO,OOO. Harley and Chelsea arrived in England from Christchurch last week and have visited a few of London’s tourist sites with their parents, but Mrs Manson says they are limited in what they can do, because her husband becomes tired very easily.
