Quartets well placed

Christchurch quartets took first and second places in a barbershop quartet competition in Arrowtown at the week-end. The competition was part of the annual Arrowtown Festival, a week-long celebration of autumn which ended on Saturday. The winning quartet was the Rivertown Ramblers, from the Christchurch Chapter of Barbershop Singers, comprising of Derek Cosburn, lead; John Porter, tenor; Graham Frew, baritone; and John Buckley, bass. Second was Satin and Style, of the Sweet Adeline Chorus, of Christchurch. KZ4, from Queenstown, was third, and fourth were The Buckingham Street Boys, from Arrowtown.
