Man snatches cash
A thief snatched $2500 from Budget Tyres, Sydenham, yesterday morning. The man was one of a number of customers in the workshop when the money disappeared. It is believed he reached through an alcove and took the cash which was on a desk.
Guns taken from house
Two 60-yean-old shotguns valued at $2OOO were among a haul of goods taken from a house burglary in Riccarton this week-end. The thieves broke into the Puriri Street house through a sliding window and left with the firearms, television set, video, credit cards and an assortment of other items. The house was ransacked, Senior-Sergeant David Sandes of the Hornby police said.
Beer tap left running A burglar who activated an alarm at the Weedons Country Club yesterday morning turned on a beer tap before making a hasty exit. About $lOO of damage was caused. Nothing was stolen. Indecent act in toilet The police are seeking a man in his early 20s who has committed at least two indecent acts in the C.M.L. building, Cathedral Square. Last Friday, he followed a female office worker into the women’s toilets and began masturbating in front of her. He is described as European, aged about 23, with blond hair and deep-set eyes. He was wearing jeans, check shirt and dark shoes. He speaks with a lisp and has a limp. Police consider action The police are considering what action to take against a Western Samoan man, aged 22, who allegedly kissed a girl in Kendal Avenue, Burnside, on Saturday. The complainant, aged 17, was approached by the man, grabbed and then kissed before she broke free. When the man was found nearby by the police he told them the act was customary in his native country.
