Qualityship makes debut at Forbury

Special correspondent Dunedin . Qualityship added to the list of winners for the Dunedin owner-trainer Kevin Court when successful in a penalty-bear-ing race at the Forbury Park trials yesterday. Qualityship, making his debut, ran on strongly from a fair way back to win easily. A three-year-old gelding by Lordship from Merry Chase, Qualityship was purchased for $15,000 at the National Yearling Sale.

Court has had mixed fortunes with his team

recently. Watch Me Fella is under treatment for a bad cold and his promising two-year-old, Seafield Inca, has missed work after pulling a muscle in his shoulder. Seafield Inca indicated he was fully recovered when he won the heat for two-year-olds yesterday. Seafield Inca trailed the pacemaker, Lady Roma, and outfinished her by a length. Lady Roma (People’s Blue Chip — Spanish Lady), a member of Ross Payne’s team, makes her race debut in the two-

year-old fillies pace at Gore on Saturday. The second CO penaltybearing race yesterday was won by the Sir Dalrae gelding, Travis McGee, which is owned and trained at Mokoreta (near Wyndham) by his breeder, Doug Stewart. Sycamore was most impressive yesterday when he won the main pacers’ heat. He started from 20 metres led from the 1700 m and cruised clear in the closing stages. He returned the smart time of 3:24.6 for the 2600 m, theljlast 800 m in 60.8.
