Qualityship makes debut at Forbury

Special correspondent Dunedin . Qualityship added to the list of winners for the Dunedin owner-trainer Kevin Court when successful in a penalty-bear-ing race at the Forbury Park trials yesterday. Qualityship, making his debut, ran on strongly from a fair way back to win easily. A three-year-old gelding by Lordship from Merry Chase, Qualityship was purchased for $15,000 at the National Yearling Sale.

The second CO penaltybearing race yesterday was won by the Sir Dalrae gelding, Travis McGee, which is owned and trained at Mokoreta (near Wyndham) by his breeder, Doug Stewart. Sycamore was most impressive yesterday when he won the main pacers’ heat. He started from 20 metres led from the 1700 m and cruised clear in the closing stages. He returned the smart time of 3:24.6 for the 2600 m, theljlast 800 m in 60.8.
