N.Z. trotters placed The New Zealand trotters (Its) Troppo and Pitcher finished second and fourth respectively behind Second Bat in the $ Austll,ooo Ash Invitation Trot at Moonee Valley in Melbourne on Monday afternoon. After trailing (Its) Troppo got within a head of the pacemaking Second Bat the finish of the mobile 2380 m event. Colt sidelined Motu Mister Smooth, which showed much promise from Barry Woodfield’s East Eyreton team but was sidelined with back trouble in November, will not race again this season. The Smooth Fella colt, for which a six-figure offer was refused before being injured in a skirmish in the Sires’ Stakes Final at the New Zealand Cup meeting, has been given a leagthy spell and will resume work during the winter, f
