Mayoral support

BY Sir Hamish Hay, Mayor of Christchurch “I am pleased to write a message on the occasion of National Round Table Week and to wish it every success. As a former member of the Round Table and one of the charter members of the first Table in New Zealand, Christchurch No. 1, I have always had a keen interest in the progress of the organisation throughout New Zealand in the 36 years since it was started here. With over 70 Tables and 1150 members now operating, it has clearly become well established as one of the most successful young men’s service clubs in New Zealand and is fulfilling a significant social role.” “The Round Table movement has been actively involved in assisting many deserving causes,

both nationally and in local communities, and it has a high reputation for achieving good results. Many very able young business and professional men have given generously of their talents and energies in a tremendous variety of community projects, and in doing so have assisted their own personal development and leadership potential. “I commend the Round Table to young men between the ages of 18 and 40, as a thoroughly worthwhile organisation in which to become involved, and can testify to this from my own experience. As Mayor, I thank the Round Tables in Christchurch for all they have done here to improve our community and I wish the Movement well in the future.”
