Jockey’s condition critical

NZPA-AFP Hong Kong Hong Kong’s champion jockey, Bart Leisher, was still in critical condition but making good progress on Wednesday after undergoing brain surgery twice after a race fall.

Leisher, who was the British colony’s champion jockey last season, fell from his horse Super Treasure during a race in Hong Kong last Saturday and was apparently trampled by another horse in the resulting three-horse pile-up. He underwent brain surgery to remove a blood clot on Sunday and Tuesday.

Leisher rode in South Africa before coming to Hong Kong in 1987.
