Bailey on his way
The Junior All White soccer goal-keeper, Ross Bailey, will be mixing it with the likes of Chris Waddle and Paul Gascoigne at Tottenham Hotspur shortly. Bailey, of Pakuranga Town, is the second player selected under the Guardian Royal Ex-change-sponsored centres of excellence training scheme to spend three months with the
Tottenham youth training scheme.
He will mix with the apprentice professionals and also see a number of first division games in London. His father, Fred Bailey, will accompany him on the three month long trip. The centres of excellence co-ordinator, Kevin Fallon, said Bailey has shown talent over the last five years and
worked very hard. “He really is an example to those who aspire to obtain the scholarship in the future.” ■ The centres of excellence for junior soccer have now been set up in 25 towns and cities throughout New Zealand with young players getting intensive training from the country’s fop coaches and players.
