Campese loses chance
NZPA-AFP Manchester, England David Campese has missed a chance to become a rugby league legend, according to the St Helens coach, ( Alex Murphy. The 27-year-old Australian rugby union wing rejected a world record offer of around £235,000 (5NZ381.307) by St Helens, claiming rugby league players would be "out to kill him to prove union is no good.” Mr Murphy said Campese was under-selling himself. "League players would not be out to get him. He would simply . be a marked man at first, just like Jonathan Davies at Widnes.” Now St Helens is again turning its attention to John Kirwin, the All Blacks rugby union wing. Mr Murphy said: “Kirwin is one of the irons in the fire. Although there are other top class wingers, we have our sights on him to sign for us on long term contract.”
