The Transition Committee wishes to appoint as Chief Executive officer an executive who can demonstrate management expertise (preferably involving multi-disciplines) and a broad knowledge of regional and local government. The appointee will assist the Committee to structure the new organisation: to integrate present Catchment Board and United Council activities; and then to accept responsibility for the management of the new Regional Council, aided by a small management team. In addition to providing statutory and policy advice and implementing the Council’s policies, programmes and decisions, the appointee will be expected to lead and motivate staff, ensure that all resources are managed effectively arid efficiently, develop and enhance the Council's public relations, and adopt an advocacy role on behalf of the Taranaki Region at national, regional and local levels.
